Suh Making NFL Comeback? 'I Can Add Value!'

    By Mike Fisher,

AUG 5 SUH COMEBACK? Ndamukong Suh was a five-time Pro Bowler and, with the Bucs and elsewhere, one of the most fearsome players of his generation. He's 37 now, though, and he last played during the 2022 season.

    So, he's done, right?

In announcing that he'll once again be doing TV analysis for United Kingdom's Sky Sports during their NFL coverage this year, Suh teased the idea of "unretiring.''

Suh said that he has fielded calls from teams exploring his possible late-season return to the field in 2024 and says his "phone number is always available."

"I think a lot of the teams understand that if I'm going to come back and play, it's going to be during the meat of the season where we know there's a good chance to make it into the playoffs and I can add value and be able to take them over the hump," he said.

AUG 4 K'LAVON CUT The Carolina Panthers have said goodbye to K’Lavon Chaisson, a former first-round pick.

on Tuesday just four days before their season opener against the New Orleans Saints. It comes only six months after the Panthers signed him as a free agent in March. Chaisson spent the first four seasons of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, compiling 73 total tackles, five sacks, and two passes defended. He's a former first-round pick out of LSU.

SEPT 1 100 CATCHES? The Washington Commanders might just sling the ball around the field this year, starting in Week 1 against the Bucs.

There is another level of conventional wisdom that says duel-threat rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels might have to do a lot of running. But ESPN’s Dan Graziano is offering a prediction for the Commanders running backs.

“Don’t be surprised if … Brian Robinson Jr. and Austin Ekeler combine to catch more than 100 passes,” Graziano writes.

OK, we will consider ourselves warned.

SEPT 1 JAYDEN SCOUTS BUCS The Washington Commanders kick off the season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and they'll do it with a rookie QB who already sounds like a student of the game.

Jayden Daniels, the second-overall pick out of LSU, is the Washington starter. ... and he'll face a Bucs D with some skins on the wall.

Tampa Bay's defense allowed the seventh-fewest points of any team in the NFL last season.

"Avery sound defense," Daniels said of the Bucs. "Todd Bowles (has) ... his track record as a defensive coordinator. Everything speaks for itself. They got a very savvy veteran in LaVonte David that's controlling the defense. He knows what's gonna go on, so we gotta go out there and we just gotta execute.

"They got a very good front and very overall good defense."

SEPT 1 NOT A REBUILD! The Washington Commanders were 4-13 last year, and yet the new boss there - helping the Commanders get ready for the opener against the Bucs - swears this is no rebuild.

Said GM Adam Peters in a recent interview with Grant & Danny on 106.7 The Fan : “It’s not a rebuild; it’s a recalibration. We are trying to win right now. We do have goals to be really good this season.”

The Bucs' plan on Sunday? Slow down their achievement of those goals.

AUG 30 UNIQUE? Commanders assistant general manager Lance Newmark is touting Jayden Daniels and the situation in Washington - which opens the season against the Bucs - as "unique.''

“That's obviously the most important thing that you can have," Newmark said of being able to draft a franchise QB, as the Commanders did in this year's No. 2 slot. "And when you're comfortable there and when you feel like you have the ability to win games with that person, it allows you to really explore every option outside of that."

Is Daniels ready to help the Commanders to win games ... now?

"This is a unique situation where we're going with a young guy and we're very excited about that,'' he said. "The quarterback situation allows you to do so much when you feel comfortable there and when you feel excited about what you're doing.”

"Comfort'' can mean "confidence.'' By the time the Commanders get to Tampa Bay to open their season against the Buccaneers on Sunday, Sept. 8, we begin to see all of it unfold ... for both teams.

Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. EDT.

AUG 9 PANTHERS RUN OFF RUNWAY The NFL preseason is starting, which means that teams are going to be traveling. However, the Carolina Panthers had a bit of an issue with their most recent flight.

According to WCNC , the Panthers' Delta flight ran off the runway moments after touching down in Charlotte. The team was coming back from playing against the New England Patriots in the preseason.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and everyone was able to safely exit the plane and go about their business. That is obviously not how you want a flight to end, but thankfully nobody was injured.

AUG 8 MOORE OUT FOR YEAR Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Rondale Moore was carted off the field with an air cast around his right leg yesterday, ending the team's practice prematurely.

Now, per a report by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport , the young receiver will be out for the entire season due to the knee injury.

The 24-year-old Moore was looking to breakout this season with a new quarterback and a new system, but hopefully he will be able to return next year and get that chance.
