    Red Raiders Assistant Baseball Coach Joe Hughes Resigns

    The Texas Tech Red Raiders announced the resignation of assistant coach Joe Hughes on Wednesday. Hughes spent time with the Red Raiders as both a coach and Director of Operations. He's leaving college baseball completely.

    "Joe has played a critical role in the success of our program here at Texas Tech and will be greatly missed," Tadlock said. "Joe and his family will always be part of our baseball program. We wish them nothing but the best as they move in a new direction in life."

    Hughes followed coach Tim Tadlock from Grayson County College to Oklahoma and was an original member of Tadlock's coaching staff . He arrived in 2012 as Director of Operations and made the jump to assistant coach just before the 2024 campaign.

    "I am very thankful to Coach Tadlock, the staff, administration, Red Raider Nation, and most importantly the players for these last 12 years at Texas Tech baseball," Hughes said.

    "My time at Texas Tech has been nothing short of amazing. I will miss working with the guys, but I am looking forward to watching the success of the program as they continue their pursuit to win it all in Omaha."

    While with the Red Raiders , Hughes saw four College World Series appearances, including the program's first in 2014. He also saw three straight Big 12 titles from 2016-2018.
