Over the past few decades, the Las Vegas Raiders have not been a competitive team .

One of the symptoms of bad football teams is poor quarterback play. Therefore, it should be no surprise that the Raiders have seen a lot of bad quarterback performances over the years.

With that in mind, even though there are a lot of people who aren't fond of the Raiders' starting quarterback Gardner Minshew, he actually might be the best QB the Raiders have had in a while.

While it flew under the radar last year, Minshew did actually make the Pro Bowl. To be fair, he was selected as a replacement, but he did still make it. Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Tua Tagovailoa were the three quarterbacks initially named to the AFC's Pro Bowl roster.

Mahomes and Jackson didn't perform in the Pro Bowl, and Jackson was replaced by Minshew. C.J. Stroud ended up replacing Mahomes.

Minshew's 2023 season wasn't bad, but it doesn't immediately seem worthy of the honor. Minshew started 13 games, completing 62.2% of his passes for 3,305 yards, while passing for 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He had a passer rating of 84.6.

The QB that Dubow is referring to is Derek Carr, who started in 2018 after making the Pro Bowl the year before. Carr's stats in 2017 were actually pretty similar to Minshews. He completed 62.7% of his passes, throwing for 3,496 yards, 22 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and an 86.4 passer rating.

Minshew is set to open the season with the Raiders as they take on the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday afternoon.
