Who Are Bucs 6 Captains?

Three days away from the kickoff of the regular season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced their team captains. Last year, the decision came well into the regular season.

There will be no such wait this time.

Six individuals provide the makeup of the group with three players represented on each side of the ball.

Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans and Tristan Wirfs are the captains from the Bucs offense while Antoine Winfield Jr., Vita Vea and Lavonte David signal the defensive contingent.

That group carries few surprises in terms of selection and several are already tenured captains. David has donned the title for the last 10 seasons and will do so for an eleventh.

Evans gets the nod for an eighth consecutive year and now the third for Vea. Winfield Jr., Wirfs and Mayfield all received the honor for the first time with the Bucs last season.

According to the team, head coach Todd Bowles announced the captains to his group Thursday morning.

Five of the six players received extensions during the offseason. Wirfs and Winfield Jr. received the bulk of those payments, earning record extensions at their respective positions.

Led by their group of captains, the Bucs are set for a Week 1 showdown at Raymond james Stadium with the Washington Commanders at 4:25 p.m.
