Lamar's Revisionist History: Ravens Would've Beaten Chiefs If ... 'My Legs!'

    By Mike Fisher,

We find ourselves a bit stunned as we approach the Thursday Night Football meeting putting Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson against the Kansas City Chiefs that the MVP is allowing himself a weird conceit of revisionist history regarding the AFC Championship Game.

Jackson is now claiming the loss to the Chiefs in the AFC finale - which of course propelled KC to the Super Bowl -  can be blamed on his tired legs.

“How I’m feeling right now,” he said to the Washington Post , “I wish I was feeling like this, body-wise, in the AFC Championship. We would have won the game .''

    Come again, Lamar?

"I would have been able to move around for my guys,'' he said. "With me just hurting and can’t move, I know if my legs were good, we would have won that s***. We wouldn’t have even had to throw the ball. F*** throwing the ball.”

Jackson is leaving us with a lot to unpack here. "His "bleep'' throwing the ball doesn't say much about his confidence in his ability to win that way ... which of course is the great criticism of him - that's he's pretty much "just a running QB.''

But the idea that June-time "fresh legs'' would've sure benefitted him months later in the playoffs?

Well, no kidding, Sherlock. It is true: The Ravens would have been more likely to have beaten the Chiefs if Lamar had "fresh legs'' because of his running ability.

Bur what he's missing is that it's fairly likely that KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes' legs were not as "fresh'' in the AFC title game as they were the June before. Same with Chris Jones' legs and Travis Kelce's legs and everybody's legs.

It's truly odd that Lamar thinks that his legs and his legs only were cursed with a lack of "freshness.''

Tonight, Jackson gets another shot at the Chiefs. The good news for the Ravens? It's September. He will have fresh legs.

The bad news for the Ravens? It's September. The Chiefs will have fresh legs, too.

I don't think it's just Lamar. Don't all Baltimorons sound whiney these days?
