Angel Reese Names One WNBA Player Who 'Cooked' Her

Angel Reese recently dropped her welcome to the WNBA moment on her "Unapologetically Angel" podcast.

While she didn't relay those specific words, she explained that in her first WNBA game ever, a matchup against the Minnesota Lynx on May 3rd, she got "cooked" by WNBA All-Star Napheesa Collier.

Reese was playing in a preseason game, but she explained that it was a rough one. In that matchup against Collier and the Lynx, the rookie posted 13 points and nine rebounds.

Collier finished the game with 17 points, shooting 7-of-9 from the field.

“Napheesa cooked me, I’m not gone lie," Reese said. "That was my first game, and I was like, ‘It’s gone be rough."

While the rookie may have gotten cooked by Collier, she's quickly picked up the pace during her first year in the league.

Reese is currently averaging 13.3 points and 13.2 rebounds per game. She is the only rookie averaging a double-double and leads the league in average rebounds.

The 6-foot-3 forward hasn't just been a star on the offensive end.  She has shown the ability to guard multiple positions, learning from matchups against star players like Napheesa Collier. Reese is averaging 1.3 steals per game on the year.

It may have been a rough start for Reese in the preseason, but she's proven to be one of the best players in the WNBA at just 22 years old.

The rookie was named to the WNBA All-Star game in 2024 and has been the Chicago Sky's most consistent contributor, starting in all 33 games for Chicago.
