Browns' Dorsey Has Simple Message For Deshaun Watson

With the Cleveland Browns days away from the start of their 2024 regular season, there are plenty of questions floating around the media and fans about quarterback Deshaun Watson. However, according to offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, it seems as though the team is fully behind their quarterback.

Before Thursday's practice, Dorsey spoke very positively about his quarterback.

"He's excited to get out there," Dorsey said. "He's a competitor. He wants to be out there with his guys and out there playing ball. And he's looked like himself in practice from what I've seen on tape from him in the past. That's all we want from him. We just want him to go out, be himself, no more, no less. Go out and make good decisions and everything else will take care of itself."

After suffering a season-ending labrum injury in 2023, the Browns and Watson himself claim that he is fully healthy and ready to play in 2024. So, while Watson might be on a short leash with the fans this season, it seems as though the Browns themselves have faith in him.

Entering year three of his five-year, $230 million contract that he signed with Cleveland in 2022, Watson has struggled to stay on the field in his first two years. Watson has played in just 12 games, totaling 2,217 yards, 14 touchdowns and nine interceptions, although he does have an 8-4 record with the team.
