Jason Kelce Warns of Recurring Problem from Chiefs-Ravens Game

The 2024 NFL season is officially underway as the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens kicked things off on Thursday night.

During the very first drive of the game, the NFL's new formation rule was in full effect as the Ravens were called for three separate illegal formation penalties, two of which were on tackle Ronnie Stanley.

The new rule is that the five offensive linemen must be aligned on the line of scrimmage before the play begins. Last season, there was some leeway as refs allowed tackles to line up a step back from the line of scrimmage, but they are cracking down on it this season.

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, brother of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, noticed these calls immediately and left his thoughts on the new rule known.

"Man they are not messing around with these tackles alignments," Kelce wrote on X. "And to be fair, Stanley is still to far back!"

Kelce made a second post comparing all the flags thrown on Thursday night to a game last season.

"I haven’t seen this many flags in a row since Jawaan Taylor last year," Kelce added.

The game in reference was between the Chiefs and Jacksonville Jaguars in 2023, where Kansas City tackle Jawaan Taylor picked up five penalties by himself.

This new rule may take some getting used to for offensive linemen, especially the tackles who are used to lining up a bit behind the line of scrimmage to prevent quick edge rushers from getting pressure on the quarterback.

Kelce spent 13 seasons with the Eagles from 2011 to 2023. He helped lead his team to a win in Super Bowl LII, the Eagles' first Super Bowl win, and was a six-time first-team All-Pro.

The former Cincinnati Bearcats star announced his retirement on March 4, 2024. Shortly after, Kelce signed with ESPN to join the "Monday Night Countdown" pregame crew.

It was obvious to those that know football the officials were not calling the penalties both ways.

No calls on the chiefs 3 times at least but no calls refs will determine games as usual
