The Kansas City Chiefs' season opener against the Baltimore Ravens lived up to the hype. While Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson nearly led his team to a comeback after connecting with Isaiah Likely for a touchdown with seconds left in regulation, the rookie's toe was out of bounds, and the Chiefs held on to win 27-20.

While the refs initially called Likely's catch a touchdown, the call was reversed, which didn't sit well with Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith. "I thought that was a touchdown," Smith told reporters after the game, despite video replay clearly showing otherwise.

"That’s what they called on the field, and I didn’t think there was enough evidence to overturn it. But that’s something the refs will have to deal with." However, when it came to Smith's no-call after appearing to shove Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes out of bounds in the fourth quarter, Smith said it was the right call.

The veteran linebacker, who signed a five-year, $100 million extension with the Ravens in 2023, then put Chiefs tight end Peyton Hendershot on notice. Smith's comments immediately turns some heads, as he appeared to threaten the former undrafted free agent.

"(Mahomes) flopped (on the sideline). That’s why they didn’t call it. Great no call. But whoever 88 is better watch himself. He did a little slick push. Whoever he is, I’ll see him when I see him."

Hendershot, whom the Chiefs acquired via a trade with the Dallas Cowboys late in the offseason, was inactive in Week 1 and not in uniform.

While numerous Ravens fans agreed Mahomes flopped , others believe Smith made a clear late hit on the three-time Super Bowl MVP.  One fan posted , "He can take out his anger on his late hit fine." Another person commented , "So we have players blatantly threatening other players in press conferences now? lol? Is this guy stupid or dumb idk."
