The 2024 NFL regular season began with the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs facing off in Arrowhead. The game ended with a near game-tying touchdown from the Ravens before it was ruled that Isaiah Likely had stepped out of bounds.

One of the game's talking points was the performance of Chiefs rookie Xavier Worthy . The former Texas star broke out in his NFL debut, scoring two touchdowns, one in the rushing game and another in the receiving end.

After the game ended, Chiefs coach Andy Reid gave three simple words to describe Worthy's debut, per Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star.

    “He can run.”

Worthy was selected 28th overall in the first round of the NFL Draft after the Chiefs moved up in a trade with the Buffalo Bills.

In his first NFL game, Worthy was electric.

Worthy finished the game with a pair of catches for 47 yards and a touchdown.

However, it was his rushing touchdown that was the first score of the season for the Chiefs and showed off just how fast he is.

Worthy broke the record for the fastest 40-yard dash time in the 2024 NFL Combine, posting a 4.21. So yes, Reid is right; he can run.

JJ Watt also had a perfect assessment of Worthy's debut , so the rookie wide receiver is already impressing early on.

The Chiefs will face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 in another must-see clash between a pair of AFC heavyweights.
