After three successful years at Oklahoma State, Trace Ford is now in his second year with the Sooners. Ford, who grew up in Edmond, Ok is an integral part of OU’s defensive line.

Trace spoke to the media this week about how important it is for the Sooners to control the line of scrimmage.

What do you think about how the defensive line and the defense as a whole performed in game one?

Trace: Really good! There were a lot more sacks than we got last year and I think it’s just the beginning for the defense.

What’s it like seeing Coach Alley under game day conditions?

Trace: It’s pretty similar to practice. He’s kind of like Coach Venables, always wants perfection and he didn’t disappoint on game day. Same Coach, same pressure.

As a veteran that’s seen some of these younger guys grow and develop throughout the offseason, how cool is it to see some of them get opportunities in the game?

Trace: It’s awesome seeing Marcus Strong get those sacks. So much fun seeing those guys do well. All the guys on the D-line just doing well. It’s super exciting for me to see just being with them last year and getting to know them even more this year. It’s fun to see them do well.
