Steelers vs. Falcons: How to Watch, Betting Odds

The Pittsburgh Steelers open the season on the road on Sunday against a re-tooled Atlanta Falcons team. It's two teams who hope to put quarterback issues in their pasts.

It's a Falcons team with high expectations after turning over its quarterback room. They signed free agent veteran Kirk Cousins and drafted Michael Penix Jr., and added them to a strong defense and a team that hopes to compete for the NFC South title.

The Steelers have also turned over their entire quarterback room. They signed Russell Wilson and traded for Justin Fields. But somehow the Steelers still have questions under center. Wilson, who was named the starter out of the preseason, re-injured a calf muscle that hobbled him at the beginning of training camp, and his status on Sunday is in question.

Fields will get the start if Wilson is unable to play. For Cousins, it's a new opportunity.

“We have done a lot to build, and now it counts,” Cousins said. “I’ve been standing here for weeks, months, talking about how it’s just talk right now, and that’s all it can be in May and July, but eventually it’s got to become not just talk, but actual substance. It’ll start on Sunday.”
