Peyton Manning Roasts Arch Over First Texas Touchdown

Peyton Manning was proud as he watched his nephew, Arch Manning, throw his first college touchdown against Colorado State. However, he wasn’t so sure about the celebration that followed.

Arch Manning — who is backing up Quinn Ewers — got in during mop-up duty during Texas' 52-0 win against the Rams in Week 1. He was 5 of 6 overall for 95 yards and two touchdowns — one rushing and one passing.

Arch's first touchdown strike came in the third quarter when he found Silas Bolden on a 5-yard pass that required some athletic ability. Cameras caught the 19-year-old on the sideline after the score doing a double nose wipe celebration.

"It was fun to see him get in there. My dad's speed and athletic ability skipped a generation," Peyton Manning joked during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday. "He can run, he can move. But the celebration on the sideline — I have no clue when it comes to that. But I'm happy for him and pulling hard for him."

Peyton Manning is a two-time Super Bowl champ and has five NFL MVP awards. But he didn't take any credit for Arch's success or skill set.

"It's Arch and his dad Cooper. It's not a team by any means. Eli and I are his uncles. We talk to him when he reaches out to us to answer questions," Manning said. "I think sometimes he regrets it. He'll ask me a question about a two-minute drill and I'll leave him three, 12-minute voice memos later about the two-minute drill. I'm sure he's thinking, 'I wish I wouldn't have asked my uncle.'"

Arch Manning and the Longhorns get a stiffer test this week against No. 10-ranked Michigan on the road.
