The New York Jets are set to kick off their season against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, airing on ABC 7 New York. The game starts at 8 p.m. ET and will also be available on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN+, and ESPN Deportes.

Last season, the Jets' Super Bowl aspirations were dashed early when quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a season-ending Achilles injury just four plays into the opener. This year, the Jets are looking to turn the page and make a strong start.

"It was just a regular football play for me, a regular sack on the quarterback," Floyd said . "He just happened to get hurt."

Defensive end Leonard Floyd, now with the 49ers, has a notable history with Rodgers, having faced him ten times in the past.

Floyd has sacked Rodgers ten times, making him one of the most successful players against the veteran quarterback. However, he has experienced more losses than wins in those matchups.

The 49ers are coming off a tough loss in last season's Super Bowl, where they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime. Both teams enter this season with high expectations, as they are among the favorites to contend for the championship.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh, who previously served as the 49ers' defensive coordinator, is eager for the challenge of facing his former team.

He views this matchup as a valuable opportunity for his players to compete against one of the league's top teams.

"To be able to go out to their place on Monday night is a pretty cool opportunity for our guys to go compete against one of the best teams in the league," he said .

ESPN will provide extensive coverage leading up to the game, including the debut of Monday Night Countdown at 6 p.m. and a special two-hour NFL Live episode from Levi's Stadium. Commentators Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will return for their 23rd season together, while Lisa Salters continues her role as the sideline reporter.

Additionally, the popular alternate broadcast featuring Peyton and Eli Manning will kick off its fourth season, with the Jets-49ers matchup being the first of eleven editions this year. Spanish-language coverage will also be available, featuring a new play-by-play commentator and sideline reporter.

As the Jets and 49ers prepare for this exciting opener, fans are ready to see how the season unfolds for both teams.
