Eagles Safety Issues Stern Saquon Barkley Warning for NFL

The Philadelphia Eagles opened their new campaign with a win over the Green Bay Packers, 34-29, in the NFL's first-ever game in Brazil on Sept. 6.

Two-time Pro Bowl running back Saquon Barkley made a rousing debut for the Eagles, finishing with three touchdowns. He signed a three-year, $37.75 million deal with Philadelphia in the offseason after six years with the New York Giants.

While his talent is not a secret, his new teammates now see first-hand how the 27-year-old star operates, especially against the defense.

Eagles safety Reed Blankenship, who had to stop Barkley in the past, said he's thankful that the Penn State product is now on their side.

“I feel so bad for everybody else who has to tackle him,” Blankenship said in a report from NBC Sports Philadelphia's Dave Zangaro . “Because we had to tackle him when he was with the Giants. He’s a big dude, and he’s hard to get down."

Aside from getting his first win with his new team, Barkley also became the first Eagles player to score three touchdowns in his debut since Terrell Owens in 2004.

Blankenship stressed that opposing defenses will have their hands full trying to contain his new teammate, who rushed for 109 yards against the Packers.

“It’s tough, man,” Blankenship added. “He’s one of the best backs in the league. He’s got everything.

"If you don’t take the right angle, he’s going to make you miss. If you take the right angle, he’s going to run you over. At the end of the day, it’s a lose-lose (situation) sometimes.”
