With the No. 3 Texas Longhorns laying the smackdown on the No. 10 Michigan Wolverines in their Week 2 meeting, things got a bit chippy in the third quarter.

With Texas leading by a score of 24-6, their first-and-goal play was blown up right away. Ewers sensed that the play was going by the wayside, and gave himself up. The third-year starter took a knee, which ended the play.

However, Michigan's Cameron Brandt clearly didn't hear the whistle or see Ewers take a knee and blasted him to the ground. The hit led to an instant fight between the offensive line and the defense.

The late hit ended up turning into an offsetting penalty following the retaliation by Texas' DJ Campbell.

Joel Klatt appeared to disagree with the ref's assessment, expressing he felt there should have been a flag for the late hit.

"Well I'm surprised about is that there was no flag thrown for the late hit," Klatt said. "Cameron Brandt got away with that."

The late hit ended up not mattering as Ewers connected with running back Jaydon Blue for his third touchdown pass of the day. Heading into the fourth quarter, the Longhorns were leading by a score of 31-6, as they are clearly too much for Michigan to handle.
