The Texas Longhorns defense was one of the best in the country last season when it came to forcing turnovers. Texas finished second in the Big 12, recovering 24 turnovers in 2023. The Oklahoma Sooners led the conference with 26 turnovers recovered.

Texas continued where it left off against the Michigan Wolverines in Week 2. The Longhorns defense forced multiple turnovers in the Michigan game, and received attention across social media for its unique turnover celebration.

After intercepting Michigan quarterback Davis Warren, the Texas defense ran over to the sideline and celebrated with a "Turnover Sword." College football fans loved seeing the hilarious celebration from Texas on the sidelines.

The Texas defense is scary, with returning players like linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., defensive end Barryn Sorrell, and DE Ethan Burke. The Longhorns also added former Clemson Tigers safety Andrew Mukuba, former UTSA Roadrunners edge rusher Trey Moore, former Alabama Crimson Tide linebacker Kendrick Blackshire, and former Arizona Wildcats defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea from the transfer portal.

Texas reached the College Football Playoff semifinal last season before losing to the Washington Huskies. Michigan beat Washington to win the national title but did not look like its old self in Week 2.

Fans were intrigued by the unique celebration that Texas did.

"I need to know more about the Texas Longhorns turnover sword asap." one fan wrote.

The Longhorns had three turnovers when they brought out the sword. To celebrate, the team put three deflated footballs on the sword. The Caesars Sportsbook & Casino account on X posted a hilarious picture.

"Texas has a turnover sword with 3 deflated footballs for their 3 today," they said.

One fan called the prop one of the funniest turnover celebrations in college football.

"Texas' turnover sword is one of the funnier turnover props," they said.

Some were just amazed at the level of the unique celebration.

"Texas got a turnover sword lol," another fan said.

One account said that Texas should have used its mascot, "Bevo," to impale the footballs for each of the defense's turnovers.

"Missed opportunity to have a Longhorn impaling the footballs," they said.

The celebration attracted the attention of PFT Commenter on X, calling it a "rare cool innovation."

"Turnover sword is rare cool innovation on the sideline turnover prop," he said.

Others confidently exclaimed that Texas was back after using the turnover prop.

"Texas is back," one fan said. "The turnover sword is a crazy sideline prop."

I don’t think I would be the one willing to use Bevo’s horns as a turnover sword. Bevo don’t roll like that.
