Pat McAfee was among the first to congratulate Nick Saban for having the field named after him at Alabama's Bryant-Denny Stadium.

McAfee responded to a post from the Crimson Tide account showing Saban at mid-field with his family.

    "CONGRATS LEGEND," McAfee wrote .

Saban's legendary tenure at Alabama, which kicked off in 2007, is often hailed as one of the greatest coaching runs in college football history. Over the course of 17 seasons, he transformed the Crimson Tide into a dominant force, claiming six national championships.

His retirement in January marked the close of a defining era. Alabama announced shortly after the plans for "Saban Field." After appearing on College GameDay, Saban traveled from Ann Arbor to Tuscaloosa.

"This is a great honor to have the field named after a legacy that we’ve been able to create here,” Saban said in his speech. “But I want this legacy to be able to represent every player who played, who worked hard; every coach who helped those players develop; our administration who set a foundation where we had a chance to be successful by providing all the resources that we needed to be to have the best program in the country; and to you, the fans, who were always positive in terms of the way you supported our players, our program and all the things that we did."

Saban amassed a record of 206-29 while at Alabama. College GameDay put together a package with multiple former Alabama players and coaches showing Saban some love.

“Coach Saban, I wanted to say congratulations on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium. You deserve it," said current Ravens star running back Derrick Henry, who spent 2013-15 at Alabama. "You’re the GOAT. I appreciate everything you did for me while I attended the University of Alabama. You not only made me a better player, but you made me a better person as well. I want to say God bless you and wish you the best on your next endeavors.”
