Former Nebraska Cornhusker track standout Petra Luteran wrapped up her run at the Paris Paralympics on Saturday, falling just short of the final in the women’s 200-meter dash.

Still, Luteran leaves Paris with a silver medal, which she earned Friday in the women’s long jump.

Overall, it was a great showing for Luteran in Paris, as she set personal bests in each of the three events she competed in — the 400m, long jump and 200m.

Unfortunately, her times in the 400m and 200m races finished just one spot out of qualifying from the final for each event, but she got onto the podium in the long jump with her jump of 5.85m.

It’s been a remarkable journey for Luteran, who represented her home country of Hungary at the summer games.

The 27-year-old was a high-jumper at Nebraska from 2017 through 2020 and had a personal best of 6-0' 3/4" (1.85m) in 2018. However, after she graduated, she suffered severe injuries in an ATV accident that led to the amputation of her left arm below the elbow.

As she recovered from the devastating injury, she also returned to the track and started running, then competing in the 400m, 200m, 100m and the long jump.

Now, she leaves Paris with a silver medal.
