Deion Sanders' Blunt Response About Colorado's Offensive Line vs. Nebraska

Despite bringing in nearly a dozen new offensive linemen, Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes squad still clearly has issues with protecting the quarterback.

The new unit was dominated in their 28-10 Week 2 loss against the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. Nebraska sacked Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders five times after the Buffs allowed just one in Week 1.

When speaking to the media after the game, Sanders tried his best to remain "polite," but he pointed out that they did not perform well.

"Protections were a problem," Deion Sanders said . "You know, I'm trying to be polite and say it, because you know I can say the same thing you're thinking, but if I say it, you'd say I'm throwing my guys up under the bus. I'm not doing that whatsoever. Protections were a problem. We gotta figure out a way to prevent that and do a better job with that."

The game seemingly got out of hand in the first quarter, as Nebraska built an early 14-0 lead. Their second touchdown, which came via a Sanders pick-six, seemed to stun Colorado to the point that they could never recover.

After the game, the Colorado head coach was asked why they were unable to respond to the Nebraska defense, and he was about as honest as one could be.

"I have no idea," Sanders said. "If we would've known that answer, I think we would've responded quicker. It's like we just never got it going until it was too late."

Colorado did have a couple of chances to put points on the board, but missed two field goals and turned the ball over at the Nebraska 30-yard-line. Their defense also held Nebraska scoreless in the second half, but in an uncharacteristic showing, the offense was unable to get anything going.

The Cornhuskers have to be pleased with the result, considering they were the ones on the wrong end of a blowout when these teams met in 2023. The Cornhuskers advanced to 2-0 on the season, and will host Northern Iowa in Week 3.

For Colorado, they will again hit the road for their Week 3 matchup as they are set to take on Colorado State.
