Fans Are Torn Over Shedeur Sanders’ Behavior in Closing Moments of Colorado-Nebraska

The Colorado Buffaloes fell to 1-1 on the 2024 college football season in a 28-10 loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers (2-0) at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska on Saturday, Sept. 7. The final score doesn't indicate how lopsided the game was.

CU quarterback Shedeur Sanders completed just 23 of his 38 pass attempts for 244 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Sanders' lone touchdown of the game came with 8:45 left in the fourth quarter when he found WR LaJohntay Wester in the end-zone for a five-yard score. Before the play, the Buffaloes trailed the Cornhuskers 28-3. By that point, the game was largely out of reach for the Buffaloes.

Six minutes of game time then proceeded to pass before Fox's college football broadcast found Sanders exiting the field. He opted to head to the locker room early, raising some eyebrows as he missed the final minutes of play, including backup quarterback Ryan Staub's brief appearance.

    Take a look:

Sanders drew attention during his postgame presser when he pointed out the challenges he faced behind Colorado's offensive line. Sanders pointed out that Nebraska quarterback Dylan Raiola had a clean pocket for most of the game, while he had limited time to execute the offense. Sanders was sacked six times by the Huskers defense, while Colorado failed to get Raiola on the ground at any point during the Week 2 clash.

“How many times did Raiola get touched?” Sanders asked after Colorado's 28-10 loss to the Cornhuskers.

Sanders faced scrutiny for his behavior last season, especially after Colorado's 27-23 win over Arizona State. Deion's son immediately approached the ASU student section and flashed his expensive-looking watch while sporting a big grin on his face.

Some fans have expressed disappointment, feeling that Shedeur has repeated questionable on-field decisions from past seasons.

"The Prime era at Colorado is quickly becoming a disaster. Nobody is going to be interested in a sub par team with a bunch of sore losers, and a coach more interested in making his sons rich than winning football games."

"A clear representation of the culture Prime is building."

"NFL teams will take notes.. you will hear more on this in March/April."

"It'll be very interesting this spring to see how NFL teams balance his talent and pedigree with a sub .500 FBS record and displays like this that would indicate he's not the personality type most of them want to build their franchise around."

"Shedeur sanders can’t stay 2 minutes and watch the backups who work just as hard as he doesn’t play ? Unless he’s hurt this is nasty work."

Shedeur and the Buffaloes will try and get their second win of the season next Saturday, Sept. 14, against the Colorado State Rams. As you'll recall, the rivalry took off to new heights last season when CSU coach Jay Norvell made it "personal" with Deion before and after the game.
