Timetable Revealed For Jordan Love’s Packers Return

For a few hours, it looked like the Green Bay Packers would be preparing to play their remaining 16 games without quarterback Jordan Love after he suffered a knee injury in the final moments of Friday’s 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles Friday night in Sao Paolo, Brazil.

Love was injured as Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter wrapped him up just below his knees and linebacker Josh Sweat hit him up high as he attempted to dump off a pass and keep the play alive with Green Bay tried to muster a come-from-behind win.

An MRI upon returning to the states revealed Love had a sprained MCL, and according to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, the injury will only keep him out a couple of weeks.

“Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Love is expected to be back in Week 4, Week 5, or Week 6,” Florio wrote . “…The MRI, we’re told, was as good as the Packers could hope for it to be, given what they knew on Friday night, after the injury happened.”

Love will miss Green Bay’s Week 2 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts and Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans, but could return as early as Sept. 29 against the Minnesota Vikings.

The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reported the Packers had reached out to free-agent QB Ryan Tannehill. However, given the short-term opportunity he would be given, Tannehill could hold out for a better opportunity with another team.

Malik Willis will start for the Packers in Week 2.
