College football fans aren't giving former Texas Longhorns quarterback Colt McCoy any time to get settled in his new role for NBC.

A Heisman Trophy finalist in 2009, McCoy went on to have a long career in the NFL as a backup before hanging up his cleats following the 2023 season. He joined NBC as a color commentator covering Big Ten football and made his debut in the booth on Saturday night for Colorado-Nebraska in Lincoln.

Beginning a new role isn't easy, especially in something completely different than what you've done for the last 14 years. But fans are showing no mercy while McCoy gets his feet wet as a broadcaster.

"Colt McCoy might be the worst college football announcer in history," a fan tweeted.

McCoy seemed a bit repetitive when reviewing plays. Fans certainly noticed the trend.

"Colt McCoy wants you to watch things." a fan tweeted with a video compilation of McCoy's comments over game tape.

"Colt McCoy sounds like a hostage as an announcer," another user tweeted.

"Colt McCoy has the personality of dry paint," a fan tweeted. "He's awful. Why is he announcing games for NBC?"

It seems that McCoy's broadcasting career would be a short one if it were up to college football faithful. Luckily for the Texas legend, McCoy will likely have time to grow into the role for NBC.
