On Sunday's episode of the 'Always College Football' podcast, host Greg McElroy reviewed Week 2 of the 2024 college football season.

Week 2 featured some high-profile matchups, a few upsets, and a few close calls for some ranked programs in last week's AP Top 25.

The weekend was headlined by then-ranked No. 3 Texas' 31-12 win over No. 12 Michigan in Ann Arbor.

South Florida played No. 4 Alabama close until the fourth quarter, where the Crimson Tide scored 28 unanswered points. Of course, there was No. 5 Notre Dame's 16-14 loss to Northern Illinois, No. 7 Oregon's close 37-34 victory over Boise State, No. 8 Penn State's one-touchdown victory over Bowling Green and Illinois' 23-17 win over No. 19 Kansas.

But there was also an overtime thriller in Stillwater, Oklahoma, in which then-ranked No. 16 Oklahoma State used overtime to defeat the unranked Arkansas Razorbacks.

After a 70-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff in Week 1, Sam Pittman's Razorbacks gave Oklahoma State all it could handle in Week 2. Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green proved he was the real deal, throwing for 446 yards and connecting with wide receiver Andrew Armstrong 10 times for 164 yards.

Running back Ja'Quinden Jackson, a transfer from Utah, took 24 carries for 149 yards and scored three touchdowns on the ground.

"Arkansas is going to be a problem for a lot of folks, right?" McElroy began. "Arkansas is going to be a team that's going to be real tough to handle. They're explosive, they have good weapons, they have a fast quarterback who creates a lot with his legs. Defensive line can take over the game."

If you read the box score, you'd be shocked to see that Arkansas actually lost this one. It dominated in every aspect of the game, except for the three turnovers that proved too much to overcome. Arkansas finished the game with 648 yards to Oklahoma State's 385 and outrushed the Cowboys 232 to 59.

"And then you look at the box score, it's like, man, how did Arkansas lose this game?" Mcelroy continued. "They had 650 yards of offense, and they held Oklahoma State to just 385."

Simply put, Arkansas shot itself in the foot one too many times.

"Well, opportunities I feel like for Arkansas, they could have been up probably 28-7, they could have been up maybe 28-zip. Instead, you have punts, fumbles, you have Ramsey miss the field goal, and then you give it up on down. So there were missed opportunities, missed assignments," he concluded, before giving Oklahoma State its credit.

Arkansas, now 1-1, is back in action this Saturday at home against UAB.
