Colorado suffered more than just a tough 28-10 loss to Nebraska on Saturday night—they also faced several key injuries, leaving questions about the availability of some starters for the next game. Head coach Deion Sanders gave a brief rundown of the injuries, including updates on his two sons, Shedeur and Shilo Sanders.

Shilo Sanders, a key figure in Colorado's secondary, left the game after suffering a forearm injury in the first quarter. Deion hinted that it might be a fracture, though the exact nature of the injury is still unclear. “Shilo, I think suffered a — I don’t know the extent of the injury but I know he did something to his forearm that put him out for the rest of the game.” The team is unsure if Shilo will be available for the Rocky Mountain Showdown against Colorado State. This injury follows a shoulder issue that kept him sidelined for part of the offseason, making this another setback in his young season.

Meanwhile, quarterback Shedeur Sanders also took a significant hit, leaving the game late in the fourth quarter. He was seen heading to the locker room early, a precautionary move to ensure he got checked out after what appeared to be a helmet-to-helmet collision. Coach Prime expressed optimism that Shedeur will recover in time for the next game, explaining “I just talked to him. Looks pretty darn good to me. Just want to make sure we get him checked out and we have precaution because now you’re looking forward to next week.”

Chidozie Nwankwo, one of Colorado's defensive linemen, is nursing an AC joint injury. While Sanders didn’t seem overly worried about Nwankwo’s condition, he acknowledged the issue but expected him to be back soon. “Chidoze, I think it’s an AC joint or something like that,” Sanders stated. “I think he’s going to be alright, I think he’s going to consequently play this upcoming week.”

Isaiah Hardge, a young cornerback, suffered a foot or ankle injury during a special teams play, but Sanders downplayed the severity of Hardge’s injury as well. With several starters banged up, the Buffaloes will need to regroup quickly as they prepare for the always intense Rocky Mountain Showdown against Colorado State this Saturday. Whether Shilo Sanders will suit up remains a big question mark, but Shedeur Sanders and others appear to be on track for a return. The team is focused on managing these setbacks while gearing up for their next in-state rivalry.
