Brian Daboll, Joe Schoen Placed on Hot Seat After Embarrassing Giants Loss

The first year of the Brian Daboll-Joe Schoen partnership seemed like a fairytale for the New York Giants .

Since that time, though, it's been nothing but nightmares for everyone involved.

Kicking off the third season of the Daboll and Schoen era, New York put forth an embarrassing performance in the team's 28-6 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. It was the kind of dud that called into question everything surrounding the organization - from the quarterback to the head coach to the general manager.

Not everyone may think that way, at least right now.

The anger of most Giants fans seems centered around quarterback Daniel Jones - at least right now. New York's quarterback completed 22 of 42 passes for just 186 yards, two interceptions, and a measly 4.4. yards per pass.

Jones was by far one of the worst players on the field of any game Sunday afternoon.

That doesn't mean he was New York's biggest issue, though.

For a second straight season opener the Giants have looked unprepared due to poor coaching from the very top. It's that lack of coaching prowess that Daboll has shown - at least over the last few years.

Even then, though, it's not just Daboll that needs to be blamed.

The underlying issue for the Giants at this point is that they don't have a roster that is good enough to compete with. New York has a single strong receiver in Malik Nabers, their offensive line remains a mess, and their defense is devoid of any competency in the secondary.

That all falls at the feet of Schoen.

As the Giants move forward for the rest of the year, it's clear that New York has their general manager and head coach on the hot seat. And if things don't turn things around, it could get very ugly for everyone involved.

Tommy Devito needs to start! We already know that Jones is terrible so why not start Devito and develop him further. Devito at least brings fight into the other players and the fans (like myself), love this kid’s grit!!
