Caleb Williams' True Feelings On Brutal Week 1 Showing Vs. Titans

Caleb Williams' first official NFL game against the Tennessee Titans did not quite go according to plan. The Chicago Bears' first overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft had a terrible game by his standards, completing 14 of his 29 passes for just 93 yards.

The Bears were able to pull out the win thanks to elite play from their defense and special teams. A blocked punt and a picked off pass from Will Levis gave them the late victory. Despite the bad performance, Williams' first NFL game was a dub.

That doesn't mean Williams is satisfied, though. The Bears quarterback admitted as much in his post-game interview. Williams knows that he needs to be better if Chicago wants to succeed.

"I sat down, enjoyed the moment, just watching all the guys celebrate understanding that I need to be better, I will be better," Williams said, per Josh Schrock . "Whether it’s a win or loss, you expect to play a certain way, you expect yourself to perform a certain way, to make passes, whether it’s just a routine pass or an insane kind of whatever the case may be kind of play itself. That didn’t happen today, so it’s enough motivation for me."

The Bears offense struggled to start the game, getting shut out 17-0. Williams struggled to get the offense going, but their defense held strong while the rookie quarterback adjusted. In the end, it was that same defense that won them the game with a pick-six.

Growing pains are normal for any rookie quarterback. What's encouraging for the Bears is that Williams is motivated to come back stronger... and that the team can hold down the fort even without him.
