Last week, I wrote an article on this site about how Quinn Ewers' ability to handle Michigan's blitzing defense would be the deciding factor in Saturday's game. He passed that test with flying colors, finishing with an 88.2 PFF grade and 8.5 yards per attempt against the blitz.

Overall, Ewers completed 24-36 passes for 246 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing elite pocket manipulation, anticipation, timing, and poise. It was the type of performance that will have NFL scouts drooling over his availability in the 2025 NFL Draft.

For now, Ewers hopes to lead Texas to a national championship this season, and he might win some impressive hardware along the way. According to the current odds at FanDuel Sportsbook, Ewers is now the favorite to win this year's Heisman Trophy at +500 odds.

Ewers comes in just ahead of Miami's Cameron Ward and Georgia's Carson Beck, who have also had impressive starts to the season. However, they lack a win nearly the caliber of beating Michigan on the road.

Texas hosts Georgia on October 19 in what should be an epic battle between the current No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the AP Poll. It will also be a prime opportunity for Ewers to have a Heisman moment if he can beat Georgia at home and outduel Beck.

For now, Ewers has a great opportunity to continue padding those Heisman stats with non-conference home games against UTSA and UL Monroe over the next two weeks.
