Trae Young Gives Mavs' Klay Thompson Top 5 Praise

Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson doesn't need anyone to tell him how good he is, given that he's a four-time champion, a future Hall-of-Famer, and sixth on the NBA's all-time 3-pointers made list. However, it's still good to receive praise from your peers from time to time.

During an appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast , Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young was asked to list the top five shooters in the NBA today. Young's list included Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard, himself, Klay Thompson, and Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Some social media critics were quick to note that Thompson shouldn't be on that list in 2024 due to his "down year" with the Golden State Warriors last season. However, even in a "down year," Thompson still averaged 17.9 points while shooting 38.7 percent from deep and 92.7 percent from the free throw line.

When it comes to Thompson's perception among NBA fans in general, that perception is based on the question, "What have you done for me lately?" Given that Thompson's last game with the Warriors was a 0-10 shooting performance in a Play-In Tournament elimination game, that's the kind of production some believe the Mavs will get during the 2024-25 NBA season.

However, with a much-needed change of scenery, in addition to playing alongside Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and a big-man duo of Dereck Lively II and Daniel Gafford, Thompson will have a great chance to prove that he's still among the league's elites when it comes to shooting the basketball.
