Dodgers News: NL West Rival Raves About Los Angeles: 'It's a Magic Formula They're Using'

The Dodgers are making headlines for their impressive ability to transform struggling pitchers into reliable assets. This season, Michael Kopech, who previously struggled with the Chicago White Sox, has become a standout in the Dodgers' bullpen.

Kopech's performance has been remarkable since his trade to Los Angeles. After a tough stint with the White Sox, where he posted a 4.74 ERA and a 2-8 record, he has turned things around dramatically.

In just 16 games with the Dodgers, he has a 0.55 ERA and a 3-0 record, allowing only five hits and four walks in 16.1 innings.

His strikeout rate is impressive, with 20 strikeouts out of 57 batters faced, and he has successfully converted all three of his save opportunities.

The Dodgers have a history of revitalizing pitchers from the White Sox. Last season, they acquired Joe Kelly and Lance Lynn, both of whom significantly improved after joining Los Angeles.

Kelly had a strong finish with the Dodgers, while Lynn, despite a rough start, contributed to the team’s success down the stretch.

Kelly made 11 appearances down the stretch, allowed runs in only two of them, and struck out 19 batters in 10.1 innings while allowing a mere three hits. His 4.97 ERA in Los Angeles was a vast contrast with his 4.97 ERA in Chicago.

Lynn had the worst ERA among qualified American League pitchers (6.47) at the time of the trade, which sent Jordan Leasure, Nick Nastrini and Trayce Thompson to the White Sox.

The veteran right-hander went 7-2 with a 4.36 ERA after the trade for an injury-depleted Dodgers rotation — good enough to earn a postseason start.

Kopech's recent success adds to the narrative that the Dodgers have a unique ability to enhance player performance.

One of Kopech's appearances came against the Diamondbacks on Aug. 30, and the only inning he pitched left a major impression on veteran reliever Paul Sewald.

"It's like they have a magic formula over there," Sewald told USA Today's Bob Nightengale . "Look at what he's doing."

As the team continues to push for postseason success, Kopech's transformation serves as a testament to their effective player development and management strategies.
