Drama continues to surround Deion Sanders throughout his first stint as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes.

The hiring of Sanders sparked considerable optimism, with hopes that he could revitalize a program that had a 1-11 record in the 2022 campaign. Although his first season as head coach yielded a 4-8 record, the team's offensive potential was evident, posing a threat to opponents in each game.

This year, however, the same issues that were apparent last season have resurfaced, as the Buffaloes start with a 1-1 record, securing a win against North Dakota State but suffering a defeat to Nebraska.

And a report has been published by Jake Shapiro of Denver Sports over the past weekend, showing that Sanders allegedly made a demand to the university's marching band.

According to the story, released after the blowout loss to the Cornhuskers, Deion ordered the Colorado band to not play the fight song when Shedeur scores.

"A year later and the offensive line still doesn’t fight for each other. A year later and the fight song doesn’t even play in the stadium after the quarterback throws a touchdown. Deion Sanders told the band they couldn’t play if his son Shedeur Sanders scores a touchdown so that the loudspeaker can play a recording of his son’s song ‘Perfect Timing,’" Jake Shapiro wrote Saturday night.

While Colorado has yet to confirm the report, several Buffaloes fans have mentioned this is what they’ve experienced at Folsom Field and their reactions to the latest news, as well as college football fans watching the game:

"I noticed the CU band did not play after TD's against NDSU........STOP PLAYING TRAP MUSIC THIS IS NOT THE NFL....also Deion, you're dumb," one fan said.

"This season across the board bands are getting shafted for canned music. The entire war chant decision at FSU, this, and a general decline among band playing time. As a current band member, it's really sad because we're such a big and focal point of CFB (including almost all CFB marketing on television relies on drumline/marching music or has a band theme) and campus atmosphere. Also related, a lot of bands are getting less funding than they already were. It's truly sad," another explained.

"Oh s*** - I was at the NDSU game, and it did feel like they were playing the fight song less than usual. That’s pretty gross, and as others said, at least this’ll be the last year of this," a fan remarked.

"The Huskers happily played his son’s song in the locker room after last week’s game," one fan said.

"I was in marching band when I was in college, and I'd be pissed about this if I was in the CU band right now. The bands are a big part of what makes a college game atmosphere unique. Just further cements to me that Deion doesn't actually care about the school and fans he coaches for. Just cares about his and his sons' image," a fan explained.

"If I’m the band director I’d just decline. That or threaten to not bring the team to football games anymore. No point in going if they aren’t going to let you do what you’re there to do," a fan said.

Deion, Shedeur, and the rest of the Buffaloes program have a lot on their hands, but they will shake it all off when they take on Colorado State on Sept. 14 at 8:30 p.m. ET.
