On Sunday, the Washington Commanders were completely dominated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 37-20 loss at Raymond James Stadium.

Blatantly missing from the offensive game plan was receiver Terry McClaurin who just happens to be the Commanders best offensive player.

Bucs coach Todd Bowles revealed after the game how they game planned to take McLaurin out of the equation.

“Paid attention to him, number one. He’s a hell of a receiver," Bowles explained. "Jayden Daniels can beat you with his legs, but that takes time. McLaurin can beat you in about two seconds and that doesn’t take any time. So, we had to make sure that we paid good attention to him.”

Pretty sound advice. Take out the best threat on offense and make the rest of the offense win in coverage.

“We changed up some things. And maybe five-man pressure to take up some of the gaps with Calijah Kancey and Logan Hall down, we weren’t as fast in there – as quick in there – so to speak," Bowles explained.

"So, some of the balls got out and we understood that. Again, better him running than McLaurin catching the football. So, we tried to clean that up in the second half some.”

Daniels finished the day with 88 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. McClaurin finished with just two catches for 17 yards. Coordinator Kliff Kingsbury is going to have get creative and find ways to get McLaurin the ball.

Maybe the gameplan will change for their Week 2 game against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
