The series between the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals will feature two of the best players in baseball this season.

Aaron Judge and Bobby Witt Jr. are likely to be voted first and second in the American League MVP race this year. Both players have put up league-leading stats while leading their teams to postseason births.

Judge has 51 home runs and 125 runs batted in to lead MLB. His 116 walks, .455 on-base percentage, .695 slugging percentage, 1.150 OPS, and 9.6 wins above replacement also lead the major leagues.

The captain has led the Yankees to the best record in the American League. He has made history on multiple occasions this season, including becoming the fastest player to reach 300 career home runs.

Witt has the second-highest WAR (9.0) in the majors and his .336 batting average is the best in MLB. The shortstop also leads the league with 192 hits and 118 runs scored.

Witt is in the middle of his third and most productive season. He is on pace to have his second consecutive 30-30 season and already has a career in RBIs.

The Royals have already won their most games since 2017 and they are on pace to have their 11th-best season in franchise history. Witt has led the team’s offense and has 6.2 wins above replacement than any other Royals position player.

The Yankees and Royals play the first game of their three-game series at Yankee Stadium on Monday night.
