The Week 2 slate was headlined by a massive ranked matchup between No. 3 Texas and No. 10 Michigan, which saw the Longhorns dominate the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

Quarterback Quinn Ewers completed 24-of-36 passes for 246 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Longhorns recorded almost 400 yards of total offense and held a 24-3 lead at halftime.

Following the impressive win, many experts have wondered if Texas should be considered the best team in college football over the Georgia Bulldogs. The Longhorns jumped Ohio State for the No. 2 spot in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

On the latest episode of the " College GameDay Podcast ," ESPN's Rece Davis believes two teams have separated themselves from the rest of the country over the season's first two weeks.

"Now, one thing I'm pretty convinced that Texas and Georgia are a cut above everyone except Ohio State," Davis said. "The reason I put Georgia and Texas at the top, Ohio State right behind because Ohio State hasn't played anyone yet."

Ohio State has dominated the first two games of the 2024 season, winning by a combined score of 108-6, but has faced two subpar opponents in Akron and Western Michigan. The Buckeyes are not projected to face a ranked opponent until Oct. 12 against No. 9 Oregon.

Georgia made a statement against Clemson in Week 1, defeating the Tigers 34-3 in a dominant performance. The Bulldogs played an overmatched FCS opponent in Week 2 but will travel to No. 4 Alabama in Week 4.

All three programs received first-place votes in the AP Top 25, but the Bulldogs are still the clear leaders with 54 first-place votes after Week 2. This debate could continue until Oct. 19, when the Longhorns will host the Bulldogs in a highly-anticipated SEC matchup.
