Greg Penn III knows it’s vital for LSU’s defense to execute better

LSU is now 1-1 after beating Nicholls at home 44-21. Greg Penn led the defense with nine tackles.

Penn spoke to the media after the game about the fatigue the team was feeling and his thoughts on the upcoming SEC matchup with South Carolina.

It seems like you guys aren’t hitting on your potential yet. How do you move in the right direction?

Greg: I think we just need to come together as a team. When things aren’t going well like today on defense, just come together and execute. Really it’s about execution.

Do you think that the team was fatigued this week?

Greg: I think a lot of guys are fatigued playing football even though we had a short week. I think Tuesdays and Wednesdays are always hard even if we didn’t have a short week. It’s not really an excuse.

South Carolina looks like it’s going to be a challenge next week. Any thoughts?

Greg: It should be a big game. I’m happy to go there. Hopefully, we’ll go there and take care of business
