Joel Klatt Denounces Major Accusations Against Deion Sanders

The Colorado Buffaloes football program has been under fire quite a bit since their Saturday loss to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but the latest incident of outrage has nothing to do with on-field performance.

On Monday, a report by Denver Sports 104.3 The Fan from this past weekend sparked major headlines. It alleged that Deion Sanders no longer allows the band to play the team's fight song after passing touchdowns. According to the report, he made this change so that his son/quarterback Shedeur Sanders' song "Perfect Timing" could be played through the stadium's speakers.

A notion that Fox Sports analyst and former Colorado quarterback, Joel Klatt, took to social media to denounce.

"This is false...that is all," wrote Klatt on the app formerly known as Twitter.

However, his Fox Sports colleague Brady Quinn had conflicting intel on the matter.

"I heard “sort of false” from a VERY reliable source," wrote Quinn in the comment section to Klatt.

The report that alleged Sanders silenced the band on his son's touchdown passes, also reported that the new Colorado players in 2023 didn't learn the program's fight song.

A Colorado spokesperson provided a statement to ESPN's Kyle Bonagura, providing clarity on the situation. The statement revealed that the stadium plays a "snippet" of Sanders' song before the band plays "Glory, Glory, Colorado." The band then plays the fight song after the PAT.

Colorado doesn't have a home game until September 21, when they host Baylor, but needless to say plenty of people will be paying attention to what song is played when.

As for who they play this week, the Buffs will head to Fort Collins to take on in-state rival Colorado State in the "Rocky Mountain Showdown." They will look to bounce back after their 28-10 loss to Nebraska.
