Michigan football is regrouping after a disappointing loss to Texas, where they fell behind early and struggled to find their rhythm.

The Wolverines were forced to rely heavily on their passing game after trailing by two scores in the second quarter, leading to turnovers and a 24-3 halftime deficit.

As they prepare for their upcoming game against Arkansas State, head coach Sherrone Moore has emphasized the need to focus on the running game.

“We’ve got to run the ball more efficiently and do things to help us move the chains and get the ball in the end zone, which we’re not doing enough,” Moore told reporters . “We’ll continue to fix that.”

The team has rushed for just 228 yards and no touchdowns in their first two games, as they work to integrate running backs Donovan Edwards and Kalel Mullings into their offensive strategy.

While Edwards showed promise against Texas, the overall performance has been inconsistent.

Moore highlighted the importance of establishing a strong running game to create balance and open up opportunities for the passing attack.

“I want us to be a physical offense that’s detailed and can score points,” said Moore , whose Michigan offense has scored just three touchdowns this season. “For us to do that, we’ve got to be better running the football.

"I think we’re more consistent running the football, and when you get in games like (Texas), versus really good teams, when you get behind it becomes the throw game.”

The offensive line will need to step up and create better running lanes for the backs.

The goal is to develop a more physical and efficient offense that can score points consistently.

Moving forward, the coaching staff plans to emphasize the run game to help the team regain its rhythm and identity.

The Wolverines are looking to improve their performance and bounce back in their next matchup.
