Brent Venables on learning from Houston and preparing for Tulane

Coach Brent Venables hosted his weekly show and put a wrap on Houston as the team began to focus on Tulane.

While the performance against the Cougars created plenty of coaching opportunities, the head coach seemed grateful that the lessons to be learned happened during a win as opposed to falling short.

“Yeah…a four point victory,” said Venables.

“Last time Willie Fritz [Houston coach] was here they lost 40-35. I'd rather win 16-12 than 40-35…we know that’s a team the couple of years that have played really well on the road. I think they were 10-0 in their last ten road games…So, that is the number one statistic is finding a way to win an ugly game…and I’ll take an ugly victory.”

Coach previewed Tulane and discussed the Sooners' need for improvement before SEC play begins in a couple of weeks.
