'I Don't Respect It!' Giants' Dexter Lawrence Calls Out Booing Fans

The New York Giants kicked off season No. 100 for the franchise at home in front of the fans at MetLife Stadium. After all of the pre-game hype was over, the time came to play football.

The first quarter ended with the Vikings up just four points, but it was all downhill from there. The Vikings would go on to win 28-6.

The loss wasn't the only thing that bothered New York defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence. The star lineman didn't take kindly to the fans booing the Giants off the field.

"I don't respect it, honestly," Lawrence admitted, via SNY . "I get it, they want to see their team win. It's just a rough patch. It is what it is."

The Giants are certainly going through a rough patch. They have only two winning seasons in the last decade, and this one isn’t starting off well at all. The offense looked out of sync with Daniel Jones under center. And the fans didn't keep their disapproval to themselves.

Lawrence understands that fans pay a lot of money to go to football games, and the last thing they want to see is another season of punchless football from the Giants. His quarterback attempted to take some heat off the rest of the team.

"It's our job to give them something to cheer about and to play well to execute, and we take that serious," Jones said . "They expect us to play well. We expect to play well. We have to do that. ... I've got to be better, certainly got to play better, give ourselves more chances to make plays and execute more consistently."

Until they start playing better, you can bet the New York faithful are going to let them hear it, especially watching former Giants like Saquon Barkley find success elsewhere.

The Giants will hit the road this week to take on NFC East rival Washington Commanders on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
