The New York Liberty defeated the defending WNBA Champion Las Vegas Aces on Sunday during a game that saw Aces superstar A'ja Wilson sit out with an ankle injury.

Sunday's game was the first missed by Wilson since August 3, 2019. She suffered the injury during a game against the Connecticut Sun on Friday night before walking off the court and was seen entering the Barclays Center on Sunday in a walking boot.

Wilson wore a t-shirt with Staley's face printed on it and received a hug from her former coach at the game.

On Monday, a message from South Carolina and former A'ja Wilson coach Dawn Staley was revealed in support of the Aces champion.

The South Carolina coach offered her a six-word message of solidarity and love for Wilson amid her injury challenges.

"Love you A! Heal up soon!!" Staley wrote on her X account.

She also referenced the Aces center's t-shirt.

"I couldn't even pull this off like the @_ajawilson22!" Staley wrote, giving Wilson a shout-out on X.

The Aces are set to take on Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever this Wednesday in a prime time, 7 p.m. ET showdown in Indianapolis.
