With Angel Reese out for the remainder of the WNBA season due to a wrist injury, the Chicago Sky elevated Isabelle Harrison to a starting role to fill in for the All-Star forward.

Harrison impressed in her first start of the season after 30 games off the bench, exploding for 21 points, nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block as the Sky beat the Dallas Wings, 92-77, on Sunday (September 8).

In their postgame press conference, Harrison talked about Reese and her heartbreaking injury. She emphasized that while the rookie forward is sidelined for the rest of the campaign, she's still playing a big role for them.

Harrison also assured Reese that she has their support amid the difficult time she's going through.

“She's still very much a part of our team, injury or not ," Harrison said, per Christopher Smith of ClutchPoints. "And I'm glad she took on the role as being our biggest cheerleader now. Cause she did so much for us this season.

"Like I said, I hope she knows we have her back… we want to play for each other and take it one game at a time."

Angel Reese sustained her wrist injury during their September 6 showdown with the Los Angeles Sparks. Apparently, there's a "small crack" in her bone that will require surgery.

The 22-year-old forward is set to undergo surgery on Tuesday. Her recovery period is set for six weeks. Unfortunately, with just a little over a week before the regular season ends, there's just not enough time for her to return.

Hopes are high that Isabelle Harrison can keep filling Reese's void on the team, especially in rebounding. Reese is the WNBA leader in rebounds, averaging 13.1 per game.

As for Reese herself, fans can expect her to keep cheering on the squad as they try to make the WNBA playoffs. Chicago is 13-22 on the season, good for the eighth seed—the final playoff qualification spot.
