Mike Greenberg Gives Robert Saleh Blunt Assessment Following Jets’ Loss to 49ers

The New York Jets showed they have some work to do if they want to hang with the NFL heavyweights.

The Jets were pounded by the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, falling 32-19 and giving up more than 400 yards of offense to a unit that was missing Christian McCaffrey.

The trouncing ignited a heated message from ESPN personality Mike Greenberg, who is a passionate Jets fan. Greenberg took aim at head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas in his rant.

"Aaron Rodgers looks fine. Robert Saleh, Joe Douglas, not so much," Greenberg wrote on X. "Niners are elite, but you at least wanted Jets to look in their weight class. On this night, they certainly were not. Outcoached, outmanned, outplayed, outfought. Just deflating."

Rodgers was making his long-awaited Jets return. He debuted last season but played just four snaps before tearing his Achilles.

The former MVP looked alright in his debut. Rodgers completed 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards with a touchdown and an interception.

The real problem for the Jets was their defense, which forced just one punt out of the 49ers. It's especially concerning, considering Saleh is a defensive-minded head coach. Undrafted backup running back Jordan Mason rushed for 147 yards and a score while filling in for McCaffrey on short notice.

Saleh, Rodgers and the Jets will have a chance to bounce back next week against the Tennessee Titans.
