Jose Soriano's season with the Los Angeles Angels has come to an abrupt end due to arm fatigue. The team placed him on the 60-day injured list, confirming he will not return this season.

Soriano has been sidelined since August 17, and there has been no improvement in his condition. He last pitched in a game against the Atlanta Braves, where he struggled after 76 pitches over 3.2 innings.

“My eyes told me he was tired by the third inning, so when we got to the fourth, he was really tired,” Angels manager Ron Washington said after that game. “I was taking him out so he didn’t hurt himself because he was going to gut it out.”

In his absence, the Angels have made several roster moves. They selected the contract of outfielder Bryce Teodosio, recalled Jordyn Adams from Triple-A Salt Lake, and placed outfielders Kevin Pillar and Jo Adell on the 10-day injured list.

Despite his early exit, Soriano had a promising season. He started strong, winning his first two games in June with a 1.93 ERA, but an abdominal infection sidelined him for three weeks. After returning, he went 2-2 with a 3.31 ERA in his last seven starts.

“I’m not worried about it being a major injury, it’s just starting to fatigue,” Soriano said through an interpreter. “I’m just going to work to come back as soon as I can.”

Washington added: “His arm is tired and we just want to give him a break. When he comes back, try to fit him in and finish the season.”

Soriano's highlight came on July 23 against the Mariners, where he pitched 7.2 innings, allowing just three hits and one run.

His performance this season has positioned him as a key player for the Angels' rotation in 2025, showcasing his potential as a reliable starter.

With Soriano out, the Angels will need to adjust their pitching strategy as they head into the final stretch of the season.
