Mother of Jordan Chiles in Tears Over Viral WNBA Moment

Jordan Chiles was a guest of honor during the New York Liberty's home game against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, September 8. It's not every day that the Liberty get an Olympic gold medalist in attendance, so the team made sure to honor Chiles as they saw fit.

This came in the form of an in-game tribute for the 23-year-old, who came home from the 2024 Paris Olympics with a gold medal from the gymnastics all-around team final. The home crowd made their feelings on Chiles abundantly clear as they gave the decorated gymnast a standing ovation after seeing her tribute video on the jumbotron.

A brief video of the moment is currently making its rounds on X (formerly Twitter), and, unsurprisingly, it has gone completely viral. The 21-second clip has amassed over 90,000 views since it was posted on Sunday evening.

Gina Chiles, the mother of Jordan, caught wind of the video, and she admitted that she was moved to tears after witnessing the now-viral moment.

"Was crying!!" she wrote.

This was an undeniably proud moment for mom, who just saw a whole building show their appreciation for her daughter and everything she has achieved. It would have been hard for Gina to not be emotional in the moment, and true enough, she did not hold back the tears.

After the game, Chiles had another incredible moment as she met with Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu, who had just helped lead New York to a crucial 75-71 home victory against the defending champs.

Ionescu and Chiles ended up bowing to each other as both superstars expressed their admiration for each other. It was a pretty awesome moment for Chiles, in particular, who has been making the rounds ahead of the upcoming Gold Over America Tour with USA Gymnastics teammate and good friend Simone Biles.
