Fans Accuse Jordan Chiles of Ripping Off WNBA Star Angel Reese

When Olympic gold medalist Jordan Chiles threw out the first pitch at the New York Mets 6-4 win over the Cincinnati Reds on Friday, she took the opportunity to make a fashion statement.

Chiles, who was stripped of her Olympic bronze medal in the floor exercise last month by the International Olympic Committee after a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling nullified her score inquiry at the 2024 Paris Olympics, debuted a never-before-seen Nike brand shoe — a silver and black Air Max Muse — and she teased a big announcement about it on Instagram.

“Bringing something new to New York Fashion Week @mets 👟✨ heat coming soon… #Nike ," Chiles' post read.

While most of the comments and feedback Chiles got about her shoes was overwhelmingly positive, there were some naysayers in the comment section of the B/R Kicks Instagram account, which posted photos and video of Chiles' footwear.

Those users accused Chiles of ripping off another star athlete: Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese, who recently launched her own shoe line with Reebok.

“lol did they just copy the same shoes Angel Reese dropped last week,” one fan asked.

“Copying the queen Angel Reese already,” a second user stated.

“Reebok Engine 1 rip offs,” stated another user.

“Look similar to reebok engine sneakers worn Angel Reese,” wrote another.

While there are some similarities between the design of the two shoes, there’s enough of a difference that Chiles and Nike shouldn’t have to worry about getting a cease-and-desist letter anytime soon.

No official release date for Chiles’ shoe has been made public yet.
