The Michigan Wolverines delivered one of the most disappointing performances in the country last week. They were dominated from start to finish against the No. 3 Texas Longhorns at home, 31-12.

The score doesn't accurately represent the game, as Texas was leading 24-3 at halftime, and Michigan scored a touchdown in the final minute to make it look closer than it was. The Wolverines' inability to assert their dominance in the run game is a major concern, as they only managed 82 rushing yards at 3.7 yards per carry.

Michigan's quarterback play was subpar. Starting quarterback Davis Warren completed 22-of-33 passes for 204 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions. His 47.6 quarterback rating ranked 77th in the country for Week 2.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum mentioned that while Michigan fans can still celebrate winning the national championship last season, their chances of winning it again this year are zero.

"You are still the reigning national champions, although the chance of you winning it this year is officially zero," Finebaum said.

Michigan's schedule is relatively manageable, so the Wolverines may have the opportunity to improve. They will only play three currently ranked teams, and two of those games are scheduled for the season's final months. Ideally, by that time, they would have resolved some issues and be playing their best football.

If the issues are not resolved and they are not playing their best by then, it could be a long season in Ann Arbor.
