The Rico Hines Run has become a summer staple for NBA players who want to work on their game. The drill sessions—hosted every year at the UCLA campus, led by Philadelphia 76ers assistant coach DaRico Hines—are open to all, be it a superstar, rookie, or aspiring talent.

On Monday, players from the Clippers squad for the 2024-25 season joined a Rico Hine session. The group included new signings and blossoming talents such as Derrick Jones Jr., Kevin Porter Jr., Jordan Miller, Kobe Brown, and Mo Bamba.

A clip from the scene shows the Clippers' new-era players showcasing their skills, looking in good sync, and running impressive plays.

    Optimism, but no championship upside

The clip from the Rico Hines sessions should provide some comfort and optimism for the Clippers' front office, which has tried its best to respond to PG-13's departure. President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank, who failed to land a superstar in return for the one who got away, appears to have onboarded an impressive collection of young talents, placing particular emphasis on defense.

Fortunately, the team continues to have the services of two all-time greats: Kawhi Leonard and James Harden. A healthy year for Kawhi and a great scoring season for Harden could keep the Clippers in the mix. However, since health and consistency remain concerns for the duo, the young entrants on the roster will likely be asked to help keep the team afloat.
