The New York Jets kicked off their season Monday night amid high expectations and numerous storylines, notably the return of superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers .

Despite a 32-19 loss to the defending NFC Champion San Francisco 49ers , Rodgers, coming off a torn Achilles at age 40, showcased a promising performance, offering a glimmer of hope for Jets fans.

While the Jets were undoubtedly disappointed with their performance, Rodgers was quick to avoid making excuses. When the narrative arose about their lack of cohesion—attributed to limited offseason play and Rodgers' recent injury—he emphasized the need for improvement.

"That's an excuse for sure. I'm not going to use that, I don't think we should. We expect greatness when we step on the field.” Rodgers said , “This is a tough opener for us, travel-wise and schedule-wise, but no excuses. We have to play better. I have to play better. We'll bounce back next week."

Despite the loss, the Jets have a highly talented roster and a quarterback capable of leading them to their lofty goals, with Rodgers showcasing promising glimpses of his potential on Monday night.
