The debut of Kalen DeBoer as the head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide couldn't have gone any better as Alabama defeated Western Kentucky 63-0 and outgained the Hilltoppers 600-145.

The next game, the Crimson Tide put together a shaky performance against the South Florida Bulls at home. With just six minutes remaining in the 4th quarter, the Crimson Tide only held a five-point lead over the Bulls, 21-16. However, Alabama dominated the last six minutes, scoring three touchdowns and winning 42-16.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum was asked about that performance. He said he doesn't read too much into that game but explained that it looked sloppy due to the offensive line's play.

"I try not to read too much into several games, and I think Alabama's a game that I'm not reading anything into," Finebaum said. "It was sloppy, but the reason why it was sloppy is because the offensive line right now is a mess. Some of that is because Kadyn Proctor is out."

Finebaum mentioned that Proctor was expected to be the star of the unit. With him out of the game, the offensive line had to make adjustments. Players like Tyler Booker specifically had to move around. Finebaum also noted that one player on the offensive line had four penalties, which could potentially cost the Crimson Tide a game if not corrected.

Alabama will have the opportunity to do so on Saturday, Sept. 14, 2024, against the Wisconsin Badgers at noon ET on Fox.
