On Monday, the Washington Commanders returned to the film room to evaluate and learn from their Week 1 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Coach Dan Quinn spoke with the media and gave an evaluation of how he felt that Jayden Daniels played in the game.

"I think if you'd asked him, there'll probably be a few throws that he would either like to rip or where the progression may have taken him," Quinn said. "But by and large, I felt from the competitor side, that was it.

Those were some of the things I saw even on some of the runs, we didn't have a lot of design quarterback runs, but some of the ones that he did, I think if he'd asked him again, he'd probably wanna let it rip to one of the guys on some ops.

“So missed opportunities. Those are the hard ones. I think the one to [WR] Terry [McLaurin] to start the second half and those ones, but by and large, he really felt comfortable in those spaces."

We have written multiple times that the Commanders offense never really let Daniels do what he does best, and that’s throw it deep. The rookie quarterback got his feet wet in the opener, got comfortable and had some great moments in his first real game.

To expand on what he did in Week 1, Washington offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury needs to open things up and as coach Quinn said, “let it rip.”

Washington will host their NFC East rival New York Giants on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
